The title sequence must be intriguing and engaging as it is the first thing the audience will see, An engaging title sequence helps to keep the audience interested through to the film therefore giving them a more pleasurable experience. Making a title sequence interesting automatically gives the audience a high expectation for the film therefore helping them enjoy the film more and appreciate it. A title sequence that doesn’t successfully engage the target audience will not manage to to pull the audiences full attention as well as leaving them with a deflated feeling and not setting the standards for the film very well.
Dovetailing a film
Kyle Cooper also believes that to make a successful title sequence it needs to dovetail ( link ) to the film it's made for. This could be as simple as making sure the typography and text in the title sequence correlates to the genre of the film as well as using a matching soundtrack, or as advanced as using subtle links and hints to foreshadow events to get the audience excited for the rest of the film swell as keeping them blissfully unaware of the amazing story telling and foreshadowing they have just seen until they realise later on in the film.
