Sound has a very important role in films as without it, it is basically half of the film. The sound sets up the mood and the atmosphere of the film, from a clock ticking in a silent room to give suspense, to the sound of a busy street, connoting that it is in a city. The sound also engages the viewers more to the film, because even though there is a great amount of action going on in the film, the absence of a simple sound like a tire screech effects the scene completely.
