BFI statistics yearbook research

In the UK the most popular film genre appears to be animation followed by adventure and comedy. Despite the high number of comedy films that had been released, it only ranks third on the list of popular genres. It is fascinating that animation has a very small amount of films released and yet has the highest amount of money made in the box office and the largest percentage total of the box office. This may be due to the rise in families in the UK as animated films are usually aimed at families and children which would result which would result in a higher popularity in animated films.
