Titles on a blank screen:
involves different kinds of type face on a blank background. They are usually on a white typeface and is used on a black background to create a high contrast.
Titles on a Still Image:
- Text on a still image
- Historically, title cards developed to include hand drawn borders and other images.
- Text with a visual image to hint at the tone or genre
- Requires combining different media to make the background
Titles over moving images:
- Incorporates the Credit titles with moving image behind the titles, sound and usually no dialogue.
- They serve to offer either a metaphor or narrative thread to introduce the tone or story-line.
Titles using animation or Motion
- The animated titles are integrated together with the images we see
- Requires a lot of digital technology and stylised editing
My favorite type of type of title sequence used in film are the ones using animation or motion.
This is because they are visually appealing,as they keep my eyes glued to the screen, and it also requires more work to make, which i appreciate. I also like them, as they are able to tell a mini story related to the film, which is like a short film.
